An Editorial...Part D Deserves an F
You can easily see the money covered fingers of the lobbyists in Washington in what Congress came up with in Part D of the Medicare Act. For those that don't know, this is the optional part that covers prescriptions, or so they say.
Some 42 companies are licensed to offer their plans in Oklahoma, each one different as to deductable, size of the donut hole, co-pays, levels and other stuff. You will need a PHD to figure it all out.
Senior Citizens are punished if they don't enroll by next June in that if they decide to enroll later the premiums will increase 12% a year. That's so everyone will get in now and help pay for the thing, which would otherwise sink of its own stink.
The plans punish most the people that are least able to afford them, the poor. And of course Congress has its own little plan that is as usual, far better than the average man can afford.
Congress should go back to work on this mess and correct all of the mistakes and problems in the current program. And soon.
